Small groups mean better learning. We intentionally keep our Open Water courses small so every student receives individual attention. During busy periods, availability can become limited, so we recommend securing your preferred dates early.
How the course works
The course usually takes three days and is designed to help you progress comfortably from theory and basic skills to real ocean dives.
Day 1 — Learn the basics
Complete your knowledge review, get familiar with scuba equipment and practise your first skills in a controlled pool or confined water environment.
Day 2 — First ocean dives
Start your open water training dives in Madeira’s Atlantic waters with your instructor by your side.
Day 3 — Become certified
Complete your final ocean dives, build confidence underwater and finish your PADI Open Water certification.

Do I need previous diving experience?
No. The PADI Open Water Diver course is made for complete beginners.
How long does the course take?
The course usually takes three days, including theory, pool/confined water training and four ocean dives.
How deep can I dive after certification?
After certification, you can dive with a buddy to a maximum depth of 18 metres.
Is the certification recognised worldwide?
Yes. PADI certifications are internationally recognised.
Is scuba diving safe?
Yes, when taught properly. The course follows PADI standards and our instructors guide you progressively, with safety and comfort as the priority.
What if I feel nervous?
That is completely normal. Our instructors are used to working with beginners and will help you build confidence at your own pace.
Is equipment included?
Yes. Full scuba diving equipment is included during the course.
Can I fly after diving?
For multiple dives, we recommend waiting at least 18 hours before flying.
